Lede Press publishes pages a person can read. Each page names a product, sits in one or more categories, and includes one contextual dofollow link.
What will Lede Press publish?
Lede Press publishes one readable page per accepted product, with one contextual dofollow link, listed on the homepage. The $29 plan also gets an SEO and GEO edit and a Pinterest pin about the article. The free plan requires a badge on your site and does not include that edit or the pin.
What gets a page
A publication is a page on this domain. It has a title, a short summary, and a body. The product is named in the page. The homepage lists the page on the day it publishes, and the page stays at its URL.
The body has to give a reader something to follow: what the product does, who it is for, or what changed. A name, a logo, and a link are not enough for a page.
Categories
Every published page is filed under at least one category. Categories are how the homepage and the category pages are organized. You can choose from the categories already on the site, or name one that fits the product. We can rename, merge, or refuse a category that duplicates an existing one or that does not describe the page.
A page can sit in more than one category. The category list is a filing system. It is not a ranking of the products inside it.
The link
Each publication has one dofollow link. The rules for that link are:
- one link per page
- the link points at the product the page is about
- the link text is a phrase that already appears in the body
- the body contains no other URL
- the link is the first time that phrase appears
The link sits in a sentence, in context. It is not a list of anchors at the bottom of the page, and it is not a badge in a sidebar. After publish, the live URL is the record. The anchor on that page is what shipped. You can view the source of that URL and see the link.
Disclosure
These pages are placements. A business submits the product, the URL, and the text. The page is free when that business displays a Lede Press badge, or $29 when it does not. The $29 page is also edited for search engines and answer engines, and Lede Press publishes a Pinterest pin that links to the article. Readers should treat the page as a placement that was requested and accepted.
What that does and does not promise is in the disclaimer.
What you send
A submission includes the product name, a title, a summary, the body, the link, the link text, and the categories. Write the body as the page you want a person to read. We would rather receive a clear draft than a list of keywords.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the product description and for the right to publish it. The terms of use cover that in full.
Editing
We read every submission before it is published. We can edit for clarity, length, headings, and the single link. We can cut sentences that repeat the same claim. We can move the link so it falls on the first use of the link text. We can ask you to rewrite a draft that is too thin to publish.
Editing keeps the product, the URL, and the substance of the claim. We do not invent customers, numbers, or features that were not in the submission.
What we refuse
We refuse a listing when:
- the page misstates what the product does
- the link points at a URL that is not the product
- the draft has nothing to read beyond the link
- the material copies someone else’s page
- the account cannot be tied to the product being submitted
- the same product is already published and the new draft adds nothing
A refusal is sent to the account that submitted the listing. You can send a revised draft. A refusal of one draft does not close the account.
After publish
The page is added to the homepage on the day it publishes and filed under its categories. The URL stays put. We can correct a fact, a name, or a broken destination later. We can remove a page when the product is gone, the claims no longer hold, or the page breaks the terms.
We do not rotate the link to a new URL quietly. A change of destination is a correction, and the page should show the URL the placement was made for, or it should come down.
Corrections and removal
Email hi@ledepress.com with the page URL and the change you want, or the reason the page should be removed. Include the account email if you submitted the page. We also take requests from people named in a page who did not submit it. The terms explain takedown.
A correction updates the live page. A removal takes the page off the homepage, the category pages, and its URL.
The public record
The homepage is the index of pages that are live. Order on the homepage follows the sort a reader chooses, starting with the newest publication. Place in that list is not a score. Category counts are counts of pages, not a judgment of the products.
Questions
What is the difference between the free edit and the $29 edit?
Every accepted page is edited for clarity and for the single dofollow link. The $29 plan adds an SEO pass, covering title, summary, headings, and link placement, and a GEO pass, so the opening can be quoted by an answer engine. It also includes one Pinterest pin linking to the article.
What gets refused?
A page that misstates the product, a link that points somewhere other than the product, a draft with nothing to read, or a copied page. A refusal of one draft does not close the account.
