Terms

These terms cover use of Lede Press, including accounts, drafts, the review of a listing, and pages that go live.

What do I agree to by using Lede Press?

Using Lede Press means one dofollow link per published page, a free plan that requires a badge on your site or a $29 plan that does not, and our right to edit, refuse, or remove a submission. The $29 plan adds an SEO and GEO edit and a Pinterest pin. A draft is not a charge and is not public.

Agreement

Using https://ledepress.com means you agree to these terms. If you submit a listing, the terms apply to that listing and to the page that is published from it. If you do not agree, do not open an account and do not send a listing.

The service

Lede Press publishes editorial pages on https://ledepress.com. Each published page names a product, is filed under one or more categories, includes one contextual dofollow link, and is listed on the homepage on the day it publishes.

Opening an account lets you save a draft and send it for review. Sending a listing does not by itself publish the page. A page goes live when we publish it.

Who can use it

You need to be able to enter a contract for the business whose product you submit. Use a real email address. You are responsible for the activity on your account, including listings added while you are signed in.

Accounts

You sign in with an email link, or with Google or GitHub when those options are turned on. The email link is for you. Do not forward it. Signing in with more than one method on the same email address can attach those methods to one account.

We can refuse a new account, or close an account that breaks these terms, that we cannot tie to a real product, or that is being used to disrupt the site. Closing an account removes access to drafts. Published pages are covered separately below.

Listings

A listing needs a product, a page a person can read, and one link. The link text has to appear in the body. The body is the publication. You confirm that the description is accurate, that you have the right to publish it, and that you have the right to point the link at that URL.

You can edit a draft from your account. After a page is published, changes go through us. Email hi@ledepress.com with the URL and the change.

The one link

Each publication has one dofollow link. The link sits in the text. The body does not carry other URLs. We choose the placement of that link inside the page, and we can edit the surrounding sentences so the page reads clearly.

After publish, the live URL is the record. The anchor on that page is what shipped. How publication works is set out in the editorial policy.

Review and publication

We read a submission before it goes live. We can edit it for clarity, length, and the single link. We can ask you to rewrite it. We can refuse it. We can take a published page down later if the product, the URL, or the claims no longer match what was agreed, or if the page breaks these terms.

Refusal or removal does not require us to publish a substitute page.

Fees

A placement is free when your site displays a Lede Press badge that links to https://ledepress.com, or $29 when it does not. The price is for one page. It is published on the pricing page. Domain rating, when a number is shown, is a measurement from that time. It is not the price.

Opening an account and saving a draft do not create a charge. The $29 charge applies when that plan is accepted and the page is published. The free plan applies when the badge is on your site and the page is published.

Your content

You keep ownership of the text and product details you submit. You give Lede Press permission to edit, publish, display, list, and keep that material on this site, including the homepage, category pages, and the publication URL. That permission lasts for as long as the page is up, and for the copies we need in backups and logs.

You also give us permission to use the product name and the fact of the placement when we describe the archive of the site.

Our pages

The site design, the homepage, and the way publications are listed belong to Lede Press. You may link to a published URL. You may not copy the site, scrape it in order to republish the archive, or present the pages as your own publication.

Acceptable use

Do not submit a listing that:

  • misstates what the product does or who operates it
  • points the link at an unrelated URL
  • includes material you do not have the right to publish
  • exists only to hold a link, with nothing a person can read
  • impersonates another company or person

Do not try to break the sign-in flow, interfere with another person’s account, or overload the site. Do not use the site to send unsolicited email.

Takedown

If you believe a published page misuses your name, product, or copyright, email hi@ledepress.com with the page URL, what is wrong, and how we can reach you. We will review it and take the page down when the claim holds.

Availability and liability

The site can be unavailable while it is being changed, repaired, or moved. A published page is the record of that placement for as long as it stays on this domain.

We do not promise a search ranking, a traffic number, a domain rating, or that a page will stay unchanged forever. Read the disclaimer.

To the extent the law allows, Lede Press is not liable for lost rankings, lost business, lost data, or decisions made from a published page. Where a liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the fee you paid for the placement that gave rise to the claim.

Changes

We can update these terms. The date at the top is the date of the current version. Continuing to use the site after an update means the new terms apply. A placement already published stays governed by the editorial rules on the site, including the right to correct or remove a page.

Questions go to hi@ledepress.com. The privacy policy describes what we store about your account.

Questions

When is the $29 charged?

Opening an account and saving a draft do not create a charge. The $29 charge applies when that plan is accepted and the page is published. The free plan applies when the badge is on your site and the page is published.

Can Lede Press refuse a listing?

Yes. We can edit a submission, ask for a rewrite, refuse it, or take a published page down. A refusal of one draft does not close the account.
